We enjoy heady brews, tasty riffs and being outdoors. Kory and I will be departing from Springer Mountain around the beginning of April to begin our five month NOBO adventure along the east coast from Georgia to Maine. This journey will be the starting point for the next chapter in our lives as we set our sites on the west once we complete the AT.
Born, raised and living in Naples/Fort Myers, FL since 1986 (I will be celebrating my 29th birthday on the trail in July). I moved to Savannah, GA in 2004 where I attended the Savannah College of Art and Design for Graphic Design. I moved back to my hometown after college to be near family and eventually started working as a graphic designer. I met my bearded ramblin’ man, Kory, about 5 years ago and from there it’s been one adventure after another- traveling, music festivals, canoe trips, treks through the swampy Everglades. We have two fur babies, Dexter and Lucy, who rule the house and will be deeply missed while we are away. A special thank you to my amazing brother, Corbett, for taking care of them while we are off on our adventure! I am both nervous and excited to walk away from my job that I’ve been with for about 3 years to begin this journey but having the opportunity to live from a backpack and experience hiking like most people never have or will has been the motivation I need.
Growing up, my parents would load my brother and I in the backseat of our car with a tent in the trunk and a case of cassette tapes under the front seat. We would make the lengthy voyage from Florida to Maine cranking Tom Petty’s Zombie Zoo the whole way up (sorry Mom & Dad, that was my jam). I remember those times vividly. We would camp, hike, horseback ride, catch fireflies at night in open fields. Those times were some of my favorite memories growing up and I want to make more memories like those. Hiking through 14 states from Georgia, where my mother was born, to Maine, where my father was born, will be an adventure I will always remember. I’ll get there, one step at a time, and you better believe I will be dancing down the trail to Zombie Zoo!
Stay tuned, I’m finishing my thesis!
